CONTROLLER

CONTROLLER – Hands-On

 

Wonderful, family-owned organization is seeking a hands-on Controller that will help take the accounting department to the next level. This is an exciting opportunity to continue to refine processes, grow the accounting department and enhance the current accounting system. The Controller position is ideal for candidates who are hands-on with a strong financial background and a proven record of managing all accounting. The company offers a great work environment with stability, variety, and the opportunity to work directly with the owners.

 

Given the current structure of the accounting department, the Controller must be hands-on and directly involved in all accounting functions. This includes accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger activities.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONTROLLER

• Management of day-to-day accounting functions including, but not limited to, general ledger accounting, accounts payable, payroll and intercompany transactions

• Manage annual insurance renewals

• Coordinate and manage timely preparation of all tax returns with outside tax CPAs

• Employee benefits

• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes

• Prepare financial statements for all entities monthly, quarterly and annually

• Development of financial reports and presentations for senior management to support strategic goals of the various entities.

• Assess and enhance the current financial systems, transitioning from our current QuickBooks Enterprise system

• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CONTROLLER:

  • Degree in Accounting
  • CPA a plus
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Controller or similar accounting role
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with preparing consolidated financial statements
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Work effectively with minimal direction – self-starter
  • Manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Team player
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Enterprise
  • Knowledge of current tax rules and regulations, a plus
  • Commercial real estate experience a plus
  • Experience in a family-office environment a plus

 

Target annual salary range: $140,000 to $170,000 DOE, Discretionary bonus potential, 401(k), medical, dental and vision insurance, generous PTO policy, paid holidays and more.
