The Director of Accounting assists in overseeing the accounting, financial statements, analysis and reporting functions of the Business Group.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING

  • Direct and execute the accounting (month-end close, financial statements, fixed assets, etc.) and financial reporting activities (SEC and other regulatory reporting).
  • Monitor adherence to policies and procedures in accordance with SOX.
  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place.
  • Oversee and review group financials, including monthly results and unique transactions
  • Work closely with executive management to communicate financial data and identify operational and financial improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Recommend and develop changes in operating procedures to maximize productivity.
  • Respond to audit information requests, both internal and external, in a prompt manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • Advanced degree a plus.
  • CPA highly preferred.
  • 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience required including operational accounting, SEC reporting and SOX)
  • At least 3 years management and leadership experience
  • Some public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Energy experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing and leading employees, and directly interacting with executive management.
  • Excellent computer skills including advanced Excel skills and experience working with an ERP system
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with a stable work history.
