This is not your ordinary Tax Director role! Although you would manage the company’s Federal and State income tax compliance, planning, and strategy, this role really involves advising senior leadership on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, or other strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be a CPA with a Bachelors in Accounting, Masters in Tax, and a combination of public accounting and industry tax experience. The selected candidate will bring deep technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and the ability to navigate a complex business environment with multiple taxable entities, partnerships, and corporate structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE TAX DIRECTOR
- Interact with multiple levels of the organization to provide leadership, guidance, and assistance for tax-related issues
- Help minimize tax risks associated with mergers, acquisitions, and other business dealings
- Manage accounting and reporting for income taxes under ASC 740
- Implementation of new tax accounting pronouncements
- Manage the tax planning and preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns and projections
- Review selected complex partnership, corporate, and information tax returns
- Manage tax audits and lead the analysis and resolution of all complex tax issues
- Prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, private letter rulings, and other documents.
- Identify and drive process improvement and internal controls within the tax function
- Supervise and collaborate with outside tax advisors on various projects, as required
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE TAX DIRECTOR
- Bachelors in Accounting required, Masters in Tax preferred
- 10+ experience in tax, including both public accounting and industry experience, and including leadership roles
- Both corporate and partnership experience preferred
- Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and develop a team of direct reports
- Strong accounting and analytical skills
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization as well as external parties.
- Excellent computer and business process skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Energy experience a plus
- Outstanding verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Great team player
Target Salary Range: $180,000 - $220,000 DOE. Benefits include bonus, generous PTO, health, vision, dental, and life insurance, 401k, and much more!
